Yesterday my friend called me and while talking he was a little bit sad so I asked him the reason and he said: "I have applied for internships in 3 different companies and got rejected by each."
He was very disappointed and asked me "Am I worth anything? What should I do? I will not be successful and will end up doing nothing at last!"
I was shocked to hear these words coming out of a strong person like him. Fortunately, I was able to convince him but I thought that there may be many students like him who got rejected and start to doubt themselves.
So, I thought of writing about all of it and how can you encourage your selves and your friends too.
Not Getting Success is sad but learn from it
Take a deep breath. You’re going to be fine. Don't stop trying.
Getting rejected in your starting attempts happens to everyone. But, much like a sportsperson who uses a defeat to motivate him and his team to their next triumph, a rejection can be the foundation for your next great career opportunity.
Keep your mind calm, never doubt your abilities, maybe it was not meant for you or they were not able to understand your value. Try another one you will be selected for one for sure.
A lot of rejection advice focuses on ‘staying positive’, but this can seem pointless or impossible when you’re stuck in a cycle of job rejections.
Send a Follow-up Email
Rather than letting your disappointment lead you to make rash decisions, consider the benefits of sending a polite, understanding follow-up email.
Just because you weren’t the right candidate for this particular position doesn’t mean you made a good enough impression, the interviewer might keep you in mind for future openings that better match your skills and experience.
Send an email to people you were interviewed by, expressing your appreciation for their time and consideration. This might also create a good impact on them. This will show what kind of person you are.
Ask for feedback
You can ask for advice or feedback on your performance in the interview.
"How can you improve?" "What else do I need to do?" ask these types of questions.
They will be happy to help you, even if you didn't make an impact in your interview, interpersonal skills will make you memorable.
Reaching out graciously after getting rejected is such a sign of character because believe it or not, employers don’t enjoy giving bad news to good candidates. So when you take the high road, they’re going to keep you in a special pile. Don’t be afraid to ask for more specific tips as well.
Work on your Weaknesses
If you get feedback, work on your weaknesses. Even if you don't get a reply do self-analyze. See why you didn't do well. What questions they asked, what you answered. If you need, take a pen and write it all on paper.
Were you struggling with nerves? Was your attitude positive? Were you able to express yourself? Did you research the company enough?
Self Realization or self analyzation helps you everywhere. Try to improve yourself. Work harder.
Read interview-related articles if you like, ask your professors for their advice about you, ask your family members or friends to take mock interviews. Ask for their feedback, it will help to be confident in your interviews.
You Lack Experience
With the extreme competitiveness of the internship hunt, employers are used to seeing resume after resume filled with extracurricular activities. While being super involved at school is great, to truly stand out from the crowd, you need to have experience.
If your programing is good, make projects. If you have amazing management skills showcase them by participating in extracurricular activities. Show them you are capable of working as a team.
Being a college student you might not have sufficient experience. Learn more about what you know. Practice harder. Make Projects.
I hope next time if you Fail in an interview, You might keep these points in mind and feel work harder.
Yeah but keep one more thing in mind that If you get success, this doesn't mean that you should stop now, keep working hard, you know what you are capable of show it to the rest of the world.
Failure is a sign that you need to work hard.
A win is one step closer to Success!!!
